Can you just run me through this because I've been tempted by one of these a few times.

If I buy the device off you then it needs to be sent back to BAS for a new map?

Is the device a code reader too?

There's no need to send the actual device back to BAS.

I'll try and make it as clear as possible:

1) Plug the device into the car, select read and it will take a copy of your current file.

2) Upload this file to a suitable PC running the free BAS software. N.B. it doesn't support Windows 8.

3) Email this file to Pete or upload it via the website. Once he's checked that it's standard, pay for a new file via the website and he'll send you a modified file back.

4) Load the modified file to the interface, plug it into your car and flash the modified file to the car. Go for a test drive and enjoy the newly released power.

To ensure a successful flash, you must, at least, ensure that your battery is in a good state of charge. Connecting a stable power supply (NOT a standard charger) or failing that, a set of jump leads to another vehicle with the engine running is ideal.

The end result is exactly the same as if you were to have the car remapped at BAS or by a BAS dealer.

The device is capable of reading and clearing Engine Management fault codes. It's use as a diagnostic device in this manner will always be limited but it is a nice additional feature.

Thanks for the reply, having looked into it B.A.S. are only up thirty minutes up the road from me and having viewed their website I'm inclined to take the RRS to them to check that it hasn't already had a remap because I know it's had work done to the exhaust to open the sound up.
