United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Galway Green
TDV8 to SDV6

Hi all, after 5 years I'm contemplating changing the wonderful 07 TDV8 but here's the problem - with TDV8's getting a bit long in the tooth, and not exactly enjoying a TDV6 test drive, how does mine compare with the SDV6? Yes, okay...I will test one, but who here has changed from TDV8 to SDV6? Verdict...? Question

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I had a 2007 TDv8 RRS followed by a 2010 L322 FFRR 3.6 TDv8 and on Saturday took delivery of a 2015MY SDv6 - the current SDv6 makes all thr right noises and even after only 450 it goes like stink - but with 700 torques and a lot less kgs to haul around it should! Certainly the current L494 SDv6 compares very favourably with a 2007 TDv8 and a 2010 TDv8! Go for a late SDv6 and you won't notice that you are 2 cylinders short of the V8 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I remember when the TDv8 was dropped that people were worried that the SDv6 couldn't hack it - I haven't read too many complaints about it lacking compared to the 3.6V8 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Baltic Blue

I may not be able to help you with the difference betwixt a TDv8 and HSE but our SDv6 may well be for sale soon (HSE, Baltic blue, 24,000 miles)

driveability is on par, but my goodness from the outside the V6 does not sound good at all.

especially at idling or low speed it really sounds like you didn't go for the real deal.

Thanks Waylander, right location but will stick with green or grey. Good luck though Thumbs Up

Jochem00, agreed, that's the problem...the TDV8 is such a great unit in every way. Have looked on Autotrader & several of 09 grey TDV8s with 50k ish miles at circa £20-22k. I wouldn't mind staying pre-facelift - at least it has a proper key which seems to be a bonus these days Rolling Eyes

Well, about the facelifted interior we can discuss too.
I personally prefer the more robust look on the earlier models. as it is more fit for purpose. It is still an offroader so why have the more fancy interior with smaller and more sensitive buttons!

Totally agree Jochem, on the old RRS I much prefer the pre facelift front... just wish the new RRS was not so bulbous & cartoon like...thought I'd grow to like it, but...no Confused
