Discounts

I'm weighing up my options and looking to buy. I've been offered 11% off a Touareg 3.0 TDI Altitude. However I can't seem to get any discount whatsoever on a similar Range Rover Sport HSE which makes it way more expensive - price has to be a big factor and is already more for the latter like for like. Anyone know a good dealer/broker for a discount? I refuse to ever pay full price and have never had to.

Thanks in advance.

LR don't need to discount yet - they can't make enough Sports to meet demand. Ask yourself why VW are prepared to discount and the answer will probably be that the T'reg is an old car, about to be replaced and not very good! Best of luck - you could always try the import option. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Go for a Discovery 3 HSE, you'll get one 5k (4k discount) cheaper than a RRS. Laughing

Its got more style, less bling & you'll be all the happier! What's more you will be able to get things in the boot! Thumbs Up

Get a D3 over a Vw - Yes! Over a RRS - no, but if price is the problem then a D3 is a good 2nd choice. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

VA, you've been spending too much time on the disco3.co.uk site! I was braceing myself for a torrent of Ford Connect & shoe box comments. Must admit if the RRS had a bit more leg room for the driver, much bigger boot and the same toys as the D3 HSE as standard I'd have bought one (subject to it being the same price that is!)

Derek - I love the D3 but I prefer the RRS. I'm only winding you guys up half the time. If the RRS wasn't built I would be driving a D3! Mrs.Va's next car might well be a D3 but with this weather she has her eye on a Merc covertable. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Welcome, Shula.

VA is right, the LR dealers don't need to discount their Sports to get rid of them right now so obviously they won't. If you want one, but are willing to take what's in the channel you could go to the likes of www.findmyrangerover.com and see what they have to offer, but even then you won't find anywhere near 11% off. I also use a broker than I can put you in touch with if you are interested. PM me for details.

What Derek says (well, the bit about the price at least) is right too. LR are happy to let D3s go for discounted prices as the potential owners always threaten the dealers that the rest of their families will turn up on the dealer forecourt with all their caravans and scrawny dogs. Wink

Could be worse, could be scrawny caravans. Will get my van next year so will park at the dealers to get good servicing discounts.

Although I appreciate the general advice I don't think this helps much as it's all so based on opinions - whether a "mature" model is better than something new and problematic, whether value is more important than showing everyone you have the latest car etc. I'm trying to go off what I like - I like the Altitude body kit, the huge standard spec in the Toureg; I don't like the "chubby" RR look as much but like the overall image and gadgets (if I can afoord to spec them!).

Hmmm.

But the fact that LR dealers aren't discounting RRSs isn't based on a biased opinion, which I believe is what you asked? Confused
