Gearbox/Shifting Problems

I fitted my paddle changers in Jan, they worked fine for a while, but now.......

First thing in the morning they will work for a few minutes then stop. I did get a gearbox fault, plugged in the IIDTool and got this list of faults:

CM-Audio System
U0166-00 (6Cool Lost communication with auxiliary heater control module

BCM-Body Control
B112B-96 (2C) Steering wheel module - Component failure - internal failure

IPC-Instrument Pack
U2002-01 (2Cool Switch general electrical failure - General failure information - general electrical failure

TCM-Transmission 6spd
U0140-68 (2C) Lost communication with body control module - Algorithm based failure - event information

I reloaded the back-up CCF to bring the car back to standard, then re-flashed it.

Still the same, works for a couple of changes then nothing, however I haven't had the gearbox fault again.

The worst & weirdest thing is, when I drive home in the evening they work perfectly, this is making me thing there is no fault with the connections in the steering wheel etc.

Is there anyway the heated seat, windows, heater fan etc could be interfering with something. I'm at a loss, was thinking of stripping the steering wheel to check for a bad connection or something???????

Or do Range Rover Sports not like early mornings?

Can anyone throw any light on this. PLEASE Bow down

Thanks cr the reply. The battery is new and charge voltage is fine. It's a puzzler as it works in the afternoon but not in the morning. Banging Head Banging Head

I now know the cause of the problem, but not what to do about it...

The paddle changers stop working whenever the side or headlights are on, hence it only happens in the mornings? Why, I have no idea, worked a few weeks ago.

Anyone got any theories why the lights will interfere with the paddle changers, the little + & - less are working on the paddles, might be worth taking them off and having a look.

I'm sure there are numerous ways in which the lights could affect them. Have you checked your wiring to the tail and brake lights? (Not familiar with RRS light specs - I assume they're LED?) Question Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Jeff, I would have a proper multimeter on the battery to check the voltage in the morning.
check that they don't work and then in the afternoon, check the voltage again and see if its much higher.

Does seem very strange. Bodsys Brake Bible

How do I do a hard reset Bodsy?

The battery is definitely fine, driving home this afternoon they worked fine, as soon as I turned the lights on (side or head) they stopped working. Turned the lights off, straight back in to action, working properly.....

All I can think of is a possible problem with the LED in the paddle itself causing the error?

take of the Positive cable from the battery (I'm assuming you DONT have Start Stop on your year of car. If you do, then do not do this)
Earth the positive cable to the chassis/body earth point for 20 seconds.

the re-connect the cable.

That should drain all the ECUs of any energy, so starting back with no residual 'memory' as such (it's not memory, but its easier to explain in that way)

Then see what happens with the paddles. Check the voltages though as also mentioned. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

Tried the hard reset, still the same.
took the up-paddle changer off, wiggled the connections, now working. Must have been a bit of a dry joint?

We live & learn.
Thanks for the help Bodsy. Thumbs Up
