The real problem with the provided jack is not so much getting it up in the air, but when it gives way. Note to all: Do not trust the provided jack. I have the Clarke jack you mention and have been meaning to get hold of an adapter for it. It works fine without one though so don't wait to get one for that though. Since I rarely use the actual jacking points, I suppose it would not be of much use to me anyway. Would be a good idea to get a bottle jack to keep in the car too. Jack it up under a wishbone front or rear using a trolley jack or a decent bottle jack.

The OP could take a copy of this drawing to a local engineering shop and request they make him one up in stainless, aircraft grade aluminium or boring old steel. If he was to have several made there is a healthy demand on this forum.

Sadly those pictures were plagiarised from an old Disco 3 thread. Be assured my own 3 ton SGS trolley jack is covered in dust dirt and grease just as it should be. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Beware of cheap alloy ones that are prone to snap apparently. |
