Buying a 08 RRS HSE...Whatelse to look out for?

Gents,

I've seen an 08 HSE on 22 wheels with Hawke spec - front and side grills and blacked out 22 alloys.
60k miles, 2 owners with full service history. Its a private sale so I want to have RAC inspection as well. Test drive went well - no knocking, suspension works, though it kinda looked lower on one side, but can't be sure it wasn't the driveway. The current owner only had it a year and I wonder if there is something wrong with the car.
Has anyone used RAC car inspection pre-sale? if so thoughts/feedback? Is there anything specific to look out for?

Thanks guys.

Sounds good 60k for that year, 2 owners and full service history. If your happy with all the history and test drive is ok but unsure about it leaning 2 one side park it up on a flat surface to be sure. If your also thinking of an inspection that can only be a good thing with reassurance.
Good luck anyway. Thumbs Up

Thanks for the reply and yeah will park on a flat surface and see how it looks.
HPI came back all clear so that's good.

£1000s worth of extras *HAWKE extras
but cheap Chinese tyres fitted. Hmm. Check that the tyres are the correct load rating for the RRS. Maybe use that as a price reduction issue if they're under spec.

Seeing cheap tyres and expensive shiny bits always makes me wonder how much was spent on the oily bits. A "full service history" is just some stamps in a book and tells you nothing about what has been done to keep it in good order. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Good point. How would I know what the correct load rating would be?
One more point the recent service receipt was for £66 labour only - nothing else no parts etc...whilst I only had a quick glance it did make me think hmm....
Will have an inspection done and detailed look at the receipts etc before proceeding.

Pretty sure the belts will need changing ths year - 105k miles or 7 years - this can be costly. Landrover did not do 22 alloys - those look like replica Kahns - check for cracks on the inside - I had 22's - 3 ended up with splits. The Hawke upgrades are to the individuals taste - but then create a smaller buyers market - lettering - vents - grill can be changed relatively cheap & easy if you got bored. I believe the TDV8 is well within your price range & I believe most forum diesel owners would choose this.

Ultimately the choice is yours & my input is just that - an observation Thumbs Up

Min load rating is 106 on the 20 inch tyres. I would look for that as a minimum on those 22 inch tyres.

The small service receipt is worrying. I think it might be time to look elsewhere for your new vehicle. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Looks like some 17 year old kid has got his hands on the ripspeed book from halfords. Messed about with cheap and nasty plastic bits and then brought himself some cheap ass tyres...

For 18.5k I'd move on and find a nice original example. I'm not Fat. RRS TDV6 HST.

Indeed, spent thousands (according to him) but didn't get it colour coded. All sounds a bit wrong, doesn't it? £18k gets you a lot of RRS examples to choose from...

Not sure that I would look any more at this one. Move on and find a nice one. If you can buy "in forum" it will probably have been loved and not chavved.

This is slightly more than my budget but is the right colour combination and age and miles.

I don't see the appeal of the first one, to each their own but I think it looks awful, the second one you linked looks a much nicer car.
