3.0sdv6 blank EGR?

Hi all,

looking to tighten the old girl up so i reduce the risk of problems down the road. Also Mpg improvement is key, I've gone from 19.1 picking her up to hovering between 28-31mpg i do atlas 150miles per run.

Speaking to local indie they are unsure if they have the software to remove the lights when blanking a sdv6 3.0 ... should/can it be done?

my boot is a bit squeaky when driving and the top section (split boot) catches 1/4 times.

i have noticed i have a wobble noise at 20-30 sounds like front right when on uneven road which is going to be looked at with the shake i get at 70-80 in the steering wheel & under braking.

front cigarette lighter won't work, is this simply just a changing of fuses if so anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi

I'm new here too but I am pretty sure that as you car is MY11 it has a EUR5 engine with DPF, so EGR blanking, if discovered, would be an MOT failure. I am not sure if it WOULD be discovered on an MOT if the lights were not on but that's the risk you would be taking.

As for your squeeky rear hatch, I have the same problem and it would appear that it's a common fault, so much so that LR issued a Technicnal Service Bulletin in 2007 to hopefully cure it. The TSB number is LTB000006V2 dated 10 Jan 2007. It is a very simple fix involving a piece of plastic stuck to the stricker loop - U bolt - to stop the rattle. mine hasn't been done yet and my dealer is doing it FOC. I would hope that a LR dealer near you would do the same, but if they charge it is supposed to take a techy 0.1 of an hour (6 mins) to complete and 3 mins of that is drying time for the glue!!!

Hope this helps

Phil

Sorry i can't help you with all your faults, but i suspect your brake discs could be warped. Oh, and your vehicle isn't an SDV6 if you have the split rear tailgate.
Check your tyres for uneven wear, also you need to check all the front suspension joints for wear too.

I believe Pete Bell is (or was, at least) working on 3.0 SDV6 EGR blanking. If you have a DPF if will never be possible though, as they are needed to regulate the exhaust gas temperatures for the regeneration cycle. Wink

So far, AFAIK, the SDV6 EGRs have proved to be better than the earlier ones anyway (though, if it were me, I'd still do anything to blank them). Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

The best way to protect your EGR is to put decent fuel in the car.

Adding two-stroke oil is the best thing to do (approx 200:1 ratio - I use 400-500ml per full tank). Must be JASO FB spec or FC if you have a DPF (FC is best anyway). I stick with mineral - Castrol Actevo 2T is ideal.

Despite this, nothing will truly prevent the TDV6 EGRs valves from failing. After all, their job is to transfer filth into your engine. A picture of Disco_Mikey's:

thanks for all the replies chaps

im a total newb so give me time Very Happy

A call to Jf Automotive and i was instructed i had the "sdv6" 245bhp engine as i enquired about a gearbox flash and remap after getting the gearbox oil changed next week ( with the proper machine)

I've put diesel cleaner in her which helped me go from 19.1 to 30mpg ( i think the car was used just round the town with previous owner) now I'm doing 150+mile trips.

Ive got full carcareplan ( LR & other car brands main dealer warranty underwriters) for £600 with the full value of the car being covered, more importantly the individual claim amount being the value of the car. I've got her going into my local LR garage on the 3rd with the wheel & boot issue so we shall see what the outcome of that is. in the meantime i need to find someone local who can balance the 22" and also get a friend to have a look at arms and brakes. MY 11 TDV6 Fuji White Onyx
