How to identify satnav version?

Just wondering if anyone can tell me how to work out which version/year my satnav maps are from the screen itself?

My RRS had the original 2005 DVD in the drive so I bought a 2011-2012 disc off eBay... when I put the new disc in nothing happened... it just started up the satnav map as usual. I thought there would be some sort of update process?

Just concerned as the disc was described as being removed from another vehicle but looks like it's been burned onto a printable DVD-R by the seller. Want to make sure I've actually got new maps... Rolling Eyes

On the Home screen press the centre top of the screen, roughly on the line, for 5 seconds then press the navigation hard button until a keypad appears. Enter code 753. Select "Configurations" then "Show MMM Information". This will give you the firmware version. Wink Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

That was quite cool... done all that and here's the results. Don't really know what it all means but suspect from dates it may not have updated?

I'm not an expert on which is which but you still need to select "Show MMM Information" at the top left of the screen there. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I can confirm that is not the original 2005 firmware. Smile

I'm not sure if that is definitely the 2011/12 version but I know that 1040 is 2007 so it's definitely later than that. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Where it says 1070. Wink

As I said, I'm not an expert on versions, but I know 1040 is 2007 (this being significant for "Nav on the Move" updates), so it is later than that and, thus, not the original 2005 firmware. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Well at least that seems to confirm mine is 2012 (1070) too. Thumbs Up

Seems strange that there's nothing newer available though... 3 years is a long time to go without a map update!

I had a feeling 1070 was probably the latest. Smile

There's much annoyance about the lack of new navigation discs. Particularly from 09MY owners. There is some hope that, one day, new discs may be created that contain new mapping data without updated firmware (this is where the main difficulties lie as LR own the rights to the firmware). Evil or Very Mad

The HDD system of course has the advantage (for LR) that it can only be updated by the dealers (if they know how Rolling Eyes ) and can't be shared around. Whistle

It is now possible to retro fit a 2010/11 screen into a pre-2010 car and get it working but the maps can't be updated unless it's in a correct vehicle. Wink Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

To stop supporting the DVD based satnavs, particularly for those with newer model RRS's than mine really sucks... it can't cost that much for someone at LR to dump the new maps onto a DVD once a year.

I'd happily shell out for a new version to bring mine bang up to date. Thumbs Up
