I'm fully intending on giving my recently purchased SVR plate to LR to first register it. Must admit I've not researched insurance yet though. Cars not due to be built until mid-Mar though so a bit of time yet. SOLD - 15 plate Estoril SVR

SOLD - 64 plate Aleutian Silver Supercharged

SOLD - 63 plate Corris SDV6 Autobiography

So much so I consider giving up as I feel the wait is such a kick in the teeth, regardless of how good I believe the car is.

Well it's been in production for 4 weeks now, there hasn't been a hint of any being delivered to customers and all the ones I saw in Solihull were LHD.

Far be it for me to be a rumour-monger but here are some possibilities...

- Some bits are still missing, trim and the like. When the Evoque came out, they erected marquees in Halewood to store notionally "completed" cars with external trim missing. One car I saw had a big sign in the windscreen saying "No Brakes".

- LR want to keep UK cars back until 1 March so that they are all 15 plate or later.

- There's some software/hardware tweaks going on related to security or something else.

- We have an unrealistic expectation of how quickly LR can get its act together.

I'm still hopeful I will collect my car on 1 or 2 March (1 March being a Sunday), that's less than 3 weeks away. We'll see. Mark

I think any car parked in Halewood would have external bits missing after a few minutes. Wheels usually.

Hi - thanks for the replies so far.

You are correct that Confused.com does not show an SVR yet - so I wrote to the 6 companies who quoted lowest for a 5.0 supercharged to ask how they would rate/value/risk assess the SVR.

Only 2 of the companies bothered to respond - 1 of them is still talking to their underwriters for a decision - the other agreed they would rate it the same as the 5.0 supercharged - thus a quote of about £620 ! Only problem is that their quote is only valid for 45 days and my car will not arrive until at least May.

I will be putting my private plate on the car - so is it legal for me to insure the car in 45 days time so as to lock in the insurance quote (even though it won't be here for a few more months ?

Thanks
Rich

Rich, can i ask what insurance company said they would insure like a 5.0 SC, You can PM me if you dont want to post on here. I may have to give them a call! 2012 Evoque

Just got a quote from LR, £1431 including the hubs with a tracker fitted. Sheesh.

Do LR insist on a separate Tracker in addition to InSecure? Very Happy

Honestly, im not sure if it meant the standard fit or an aftermarket tracker. I was just nosing to get a guestimation on insurance prices, nothing too serious. I will see if it is more specific. Sorry. 2012 Evoque

My insurers will accept the InControl being CAT6 but many want CAT5 and I wondered whether LR did; out of amusement really.

It is of course a nonsense that the car is not coming equipped with Cat 5 as standard given the car's proven vulnerability. Because it is only Cat 6, someone who can clone a key can drive the car away without you knowing.

I would certainly like to have a meeting with the penny-pincher in Land Rover who decided not to go with Cat 5 and get him (I assume it's a him) to explain his decision. After all, it's only people like me who keep him in a job. Mark

Indeed you can, you just give the form to the dealer before first registration and it goes on your personal plate straightaway.

So I know we've ascertained that this is not you:

Just visited 'Go Compare' and the SVR is now listed.
