Please can anyone advise where to purchase front lower control arms?
Mine are knocking mainly on the drivers side but possibly the passenger side as well. Better to get both replaced at same time.

Also anyone that can fit them for me would be helpful please. I'm in the bristol area but willing to travel within reason!

The front lower control arms are a part that is replaced commonly as the big bush wears & causes the wheel to move back when it hits a bump. You can buy these at almost any LR parts supplier.
I have recently removed my control arms & replaced the bushes for poly bushes. These are much better than the softer rubber standard bushes & don't wear out for many years.
The ride is much firmer with the polybushes & the car corners much better now without oversteer.
Well worth thinking about.

Did you replace them for the poly bushes? Or was it a pricy job as I think there is one stubborn bolt which could be difficult to remove.

The bolts rust into the bushes so you have to cut through the bolt & bush to remove the arm. I used an electric reciprocating saw with a few course blades to do this. Once the arm is off the vehicle you can drill the rubber part of the bush out then use the reciprocating saw to cut through the outer metal part of the bush, being careful not to cut into the arm. You can not press these out, you must cut them out. Once the bush is cut out of the arm simply hit the polybush in with a heavy rubber mallet. The polybush is a very tight fit so put a good smear of washing up liquid on it to help it slide into the arm. Then fit the arm back to the car using new nuts & bolts. I marked the position of the bolts before I removed them so I could put the new bolts back in the same position so the wheel camber is the same. Or you can take the car to any good tyre supplier & they will set the wheels in line for a small fee.

I got my polybushes & all new bolts from Maltings Offroad in Doncaster.
They were good to deal with & quick delivery. I would recommend them.

I fitted the polybushes myself because I couldn't find a garage that would do it because it isn't the easiest I guess. Many indi LR specialists will only replace the complete control arm because they cut through the arm with a disc cutter to remove it, then it's no good for fitting a poly bush so they must fit a new arm. This is okay but then you still have the much weaker rubber bushes.
I greased the new bolts when I fitted them so they don't rust to the bush so if you ever need to remove them they will come out without having to cut them. They are coated so they shouldn't rust & stick into the bush but as you will see the coating doesn't work & they will be impossible to remove without either a gas axe or reciprocating saw.
Im so glad i fitted poly bushes as the handling is now much better, as the car holds the line when cornering as high speed & doesnt drift wide like the standard car does.
