Oman 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange
Suspension knocking

Hi All,

Ok so I've gone through loads of posts here about suspension knocking and creaking etc. but can't find something similar. I may have missed a post or 10 as there are a multitude of post on suspension knocking, so apologies if I have Embarassed

I've got as some of you know a 2006 SC, US spec.

Recently I've noticed that when going over a particular speed bump (the plastic type found in multi storey car park) the front end violently shakes as if something is loose with a loud knocking sound....

EDIT: I initially thought it felt like the "mass dampers" we have at the rear of the vehicle by the exhausts were loose and swinging, but obviously these are in the back... Is there something similar in the front??

It only happens on the one speed bump. In this case I'm turning left or right through a 90 degree corner into the car park and whilst straightening out go over the speed bump at a low speed and all hell breaks loose!! This physically shakes the front end of the Sport and then dies down over the next few meters depending on what speed I'm doing. It's loud and violent enough for bystanders to look in my direction.

I have no squeaking, knocking when going over speed bumps at a full 90 degrees (perpendicular) at any normal speed, it also doesn't happen when driving over rough-ish ground on site or speed bumps on site. Overall the Sport feels solid as a rock, but, this anomaly is disconcerting as it feels as if the car is going to disassemble itself...

All bushes front and rear where replaced about 2 years ago with the clamp variety where applicable this cured the squeaking I had, but no violent knocking. In this time I've probably driven only 10-15 thousand miles.

Any help/pointers would be appreciated before I take the Sport to the garage for them to have a poke around.

Thanks in advance
