United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Buckingham Blue
Auxiliary Heater

I have been told by the dealer that sold me a 2010 Range Rover Sport HSE that this model did not include the Auxiliary Heater option. I can clearly see the Auxiliary Heater under the bonnet. I do not have the remote for the auxiliary heater. I dont see any option in the Vehicle Settings to program the start/stop times.

The User Guide is not that clear about which menu heading the Auxiliary Heater is under.

Does anyone have any knowledge on this that could help a new RRS owner.

I'm finding a huge product knowledge gap at the dealer.

Thanks.

My understanding is that they all have the aux heater unit but it is used by the car to assist warm up on extremely cold days and does not mean they have the remote or timed heating options. I believe the hardware and programming for this can be added though. There's quite a few threads that come up on a search on here but to help...

I can enable the £720 std timed climate or £1100 remote control factory options.

The factory remote option also needs £250ish of parts which are relatively easy to retro fit. Thumbs Up but the std timed climate needs no parts (apart from the actual fuel burning Hester which you have. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

I have begun to understand how the AUX Heater is supposed to work. There are a couple of ways the option can work. 1. with a remote fob and timed start/stop and 2. automatically when the engine starts and the outside temp is 4C or lower. I assume that if you have option 1 then option 2 is also provided. I have discovered that on cold days (less than 4C) the AUX Heater works sometimes. i.e. the AUX Heater runs according to spec. Sometimes a message saying "Timed Climate system unavailable - please check fuel level and battery" resulting in no operation of the AUX Heater. On other occasions a message saying that Remote Heater Timer not fitted resulting in no operation of the AUX Heater.

The vehicle is going to the dealer for attention under warranty. (Approved Used LR vehicle) My biggest problem is trying to explain the issue to the service manager as they don't seem to know what the AUX Heater is. The Sales Rep told me that the RRS HSE doesn't come with an AUX Heater - I showed the unit to him (under the bonnet) but he said he didn't know what one looked like. TOPIx clearly describes that the vehicle is fitted with a FUEL FIRED HTR

As a side issue the front suspension clonks and rattles at low speed over bumps and a LR Tech is inspecting before warranty work can start at the dealer. The vehicle only has 17k miles on it. Dealer says lower arm bushes are worn. From what I read in this forum this rattling/clonking sound is a standard feature for a 2009 Range Rover Sport.
Any ideas?
