Yep, your provider probably fronts the license fee so they can rebroadcast BBC. As VA says, it's worth having... especially as there are now countless BBC digital channels covering all sorts of subject matter.

If you do end up getting it, Top Gear is on Sunday's at 8pm UK time, BBC2.

Worth seeing if you can get the UKTV channels too. UKTV is mostly owned by the BBC and they use it as a vehicle to repeat all the classic stuff.

Angel, do you have a steerable dish? If so you could point to the Astra sats that Sky uses (28degEast from memory). Alternatively have a 2nd dish. Get a cheap Sky digibox from Fleabay (see http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pace-DigiBox-Sky-Sat...otohosting as example), then get a free to air card. "free to air" cards are free to UK addresses so I'm sure someone could send you out one. Alternatively if someone has disconnected Sky TV in the UK, the card still allows BBC etc free.

I'm not a satellite viewing expert so if anyone thinks this is wrong please correct it, this is from rigging Sky up to my old motorhome.

Me, nooooooo. Too good at breaking things to be geeky! Had 2 months in S Portugal to get to know (and destroy) my satellite system on the van.

PS note to self - do not put sat locations into thread if wish not to be thought of as geeky! Have problems remembering my credit card PIN so how I remembered taht I'll never know.
