After ages talking about it I finally got round to getting the colour coding done on my trim and then a full detail from Pro Reflect in Southampton, the results are I think pretty fantastic. 58 plate RRS with 77k, looks like new!! Interesting pics are the before and after photos with the torch, you can really see the swirl marks from where I have been polishing and washing too hard. Check out the reflection in the bonnet!

I think providing you have the time and inclination, you can look after things just fine yourself. A friend asked me to have a look at the paintwork on his mother-in-law's 2008 Fiesta that he was selling for her. Granted, it took me 19 hours just with the machine, but the results were night and day (50:50 of the bonnet):
This was done with a DAS6 Pro dual action machine from clean your car. I'm a web developer (read: "geek") not a detailer.. but take your time, and you can reap the rewards both of self satisfaction and a huge cost saving (might not be an issue for some, but for me, it helps) and once it's done, if you continue to wash it properly afterwards, it shouldn't get as bad as it was before. All this said and done... yours looks really good Alex... probably better than most sitting in LR's showrooms right now! Cheers.. Ian |

Thanks Ian, know you are right it is always possible to do this yourself and normally I am an advocate for the DIY maintenance method.

Black really does look good when it's that clean. Hopefully you can stay on top of it - black's a pain in this weather, sadly. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
