Great fun until you discover your battery box isn't fitted properly and the gearbox ECU under the battery fills with water. Happened two days after my V8 had its first body off turbo replacement at 7 months old. The dealer had to absorb that bill |

Returning to the initial point for a moment it is a fact that the RRS projects water forward. I think this is down to the high ground clearance and the front wheels being so far forward. The wheels are not as well closed in by the arches. On 'standard' cars this is not the case and the forward thro of the water is suppressed by the wheel arches.

That's why off-roaders fit rubber flaps on front as well as behind wheels. |

I found that the original Continental tyres were rubbish on standing water, literally jerking the wheel out of your hand, and making your bum squeak! after changing to Goodyear Excellence, never had any issues. Used them ever since!

Contis were always rubbish at everything including wear and snow. I changed mine to Pirrelli Scorpion and lasted twice as long, didn't eat sidewalls. Even worked reasonably well in snow.
