Transmission and Service interval issues.

I have had my sport for about 10 months, I have taken care of in every way possible one of the things I noticed quite early on intermittently from stand still upon accelerating you would get a loud thump from the rear almost like somebody had hit you in the rear, secondly at around 20 mph hour you can hear a vibration/noise and times it seems that the sport is in wrong gear I thought at service time I would get it checked out.

Was out with friends for dinner the other evening notice that the sport was running a bit flat on the way back moved off from the junction it seemed like the sport was not in the correct gear as all that happen was the engine was just revving and car was not picking up speed a bit scary in traffic.
Next day noticed via the instrument panel message service required
Bought the car from a particular dealership who had serviced the car at 29k in Dec 2013 currently at 36k, so a bit concerned.
At 15k Service A 2012
At 29k Service B 2013
Went to Hadley Wood service department the work shop manager drove the sport could not recreate any of the problems, booked in for diagnostics, the work shop manager suggested that the gearbox may need reprograming, then he said that your problems could be oil degradation, what does that mean? Seem like encrypted RRS talk. I have cover with warranty wise
Any ideas would be really appreciated beginning to fall out of love with the sport.

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

The RRS requires a service every 12 months or 15k miles whichever comes first so it looks like yours is a year out if the last service was Dec 2012.

Oil degradation could be referring to the gearbox oil which does tend to age somewhat. LandRover say the gearbox is filled for life but the gearbox manuacturer says it needs the oil changing every 70k miles (which is about 4-5 years). 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I'm not an expert but looks like he is suggesting the engine oil could be in a bad shape as it should have been changed a year ago. A 2010 car should have been serviced 4 times by now, not 2. Hope he is right about gearbox reprogramming or it just needs a service/oil change. If it is a bigger problem, WW might try to wriggle out of any claims due to service schedule not having been adhered to unless they knew about it and explicitly agreed to cover the car regardless. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
Gone: MY16 RRS2 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic, Carpathian Grey & Santorini Black Sliding Pano/Ebony & Ivory 2 Tone
Gone: MY13 RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE Black Edition, Orkney Grey/Ivory
Gone: MY09 RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE, Santorini Black/Almond

@ RRSTDV8 sorry typo serviced at 29k Dec 2013
@ FKarim at the time of taking out warranty I had to send a copy of the service book. So fingers crossed it all works out.
@ Understood the oil degradation but not sure what he is applying it to the engine or gearbox?
It seems that the previous owner went by miles rather yearly.
MY10 Service schedule:
Service A
Service B
Therefore need to book Service A.

Am I correct.

RRsport has been with the dealership today, they couldn't find any error codes, but they have applied software update for the transmission. Can't wait see how it drives later on this evening.

Took the RRSport for a drive transmission seems very smooth selects the right gear now. No bang from the rear or vibration at 20/30mph. Let see how it progresses.

Regards
