e-Diff - is it the same as Active Drive

After a heap of electronic problems with my 9 Speed Evoque as a result of a software "upgrade" that has been a definite downgrade and caused the failure of the DPF sensors due to excessive emiisions I have been considering changing back to RRS. I have previously owned a launch day 2.7TDv6 and a 2007MY TDv8. Recently I drove an HSE Dynamic at Eastnor Castle and was intrigued by the e-Diff that was fitted. No-where on the configurator is there any mention of "e-diff" but the On/Off Road pack includes "Active Drive" is this the same as the e-diff? Active Driveline on an Evoque is the clever system on 2014MY on Si4's that disengages the rear drive above 23mph and isn't in any way an e-diff!
My local dealer has an RRS HSE Dynamic in the showroom but it's £78800.......... more expensive than an Autobiography that has way more standard "options" on it! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Good to see you back on here Tim. Thumbs Up

Sorry I can't help with your question, but hopefully you'll be back in a RRS. 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

The configurator used to have an option of the locking rear diff (as before in the Disco) but not on the RRS - only the Full Fat high spec.

I think the active drive is just the usual ABS trickery.....

Let me know if this is not the case though as it is just a deduction from knowing the 'proper' diff wasn't an RRS option.

I have the locking dif on my Autobiography came std with it. You can see it lock up when looking at the off road info screen.

So is it part of Dynamic or the on off road pack that comes with th Auto'

The on-off road pack just adds the 2 speed transfer box and TR2 I think. Dynamic adds the locking rear diff as part of the torque vectoring system. The locking diff is there to improve road manners, ironically, as it's very unlikely a RRS2 will be going anywhere challenging off road. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Even at very low speed the diff is locking up and releasing and that is just on a gravel farm track. Not seen the centre lock up yet though.

Agree about the road manners bit.
