New spare winch question

Hi all.
When I bought my car it had no spare wheel as stolen but the dealer said they would get me another wheel to match and a new winch. I have collected these and fitted but they told me it's a high security winch with the solid block which it is. Question is are these any good. The block does stop you getting bolt cutters in there. Has anyone had a wheel stolen using one of these.

If you mean the collar over the spring then by age mine should have had it (61 plate MY12). Spare stolen by cut cable.....

no, they don't stop them being stolen, only way is a RLD spare wheel protector. The 'new' wheel winch end is a bit more difficult to cut, but with the size of the bolt croppers they tend to use, it's no problem for the scroats. Bodsys Brake Bible

Cheers guys. Spare wheel in the boot it is then until I sort out the wheel protector. I'll knock one up at the weekend
