Brake discs warping

Hi all..

Since picking up my 58-plate RRS.. I'd done about 1000 miles give or take before it went back to have some electrical issues resolved (seems that a dodgy electronic switch in the memory seat was at the heart of most of it). When I picked it up, it'd had brand new discs and pads as when on the test drive, I noted brake judder. 1000 miles or so later, while in being looked over, apparently all 4 discs were warped after I noted that I still had juddering especially from higher speeds under braking (like leaving a motorway for example).

I've had them replaced again, but is this a "known issue"? is there possibly something more suspect here that I need to keep an eye on?

I'd done 22,000 miles in my Focus RS before I replaced the front discs and pads and only did this as the pads had worn through. Being the car that it was, it did get some spirited driving from time to time, but had no warping issues. I know the RRS is a big ol' beast in comparison, but shocked to find that they'd warped within 1000 miles, especially as it's not been driven hard (not really that type of motor is it). I'm also well aware of bedding brakes in (been changing my own brakes since my first car back in the early 90s)... so just wondering if it's something I need to think about when driving more, or maybe it was cheap discs that were fitted, or something else.

It's all lovely and smooth again since they've been replaced again, but obviously I don't want to be going through discs every 1000 miles! Any thoughts or what-have-ya appreciated Smile

Cheers..

Ian

sounds like some cheap discs have been fitted, stick with OEM or genuine and you shouldn't have any problems Sophie Alltoft

New Zealand 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Rimini Red

I fitted Pagid discs and pads all round to our 55-plate RRS SC when we imported it - and they were fine for a few thousand km but now we get the same thing - ok around town but coming down from high speed there is a judder.

While I understand that OEM parts should be fine, Pagid isn't exactly a cheap back-street brand - I would have expected better from them!

Problem is here (in NZ) a full set of original brakes runs to about NZ$3000 - which is a lot in anyones money! Every home should have one!

I have the same problem, changed disc's and pads all round, used Brembo parts, ok for 3k miles then judder returned got the front disc's swapped under warranty but 3k on again and same problem, haven't yet done anything about it. To be honest I'm not sure what to do as being a TDV8 brembo are fitted as standard.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Oops.. missed these replies Confused

Thanks lads.. it seems at least it's not just me. I initially thought cheap discs too.

Pagid certainly aren't Chinese Specials™ and I would expect them to last better, the same for Brembo, especially as these are what are fitted at standard.

So far, my new ones are holding up it seems, but I don't do a great deal of motorway driving so I guess time will tell.

Cheers..
