Low power mode

Hi all, another day and another problem, I was driving my 2005 rrs 2.7 today and the low power mode came on the stereo and my volume would not go above 20, I pulled over and switched the engine off and started it back up again and the stereo jumped back into life but only for about 2 mins then back into low power mode, after getting home after a 50 mile drive I got back in the Range Rover after my tea and started the engine but never drove the car and the stereo was fine for about 10 mins so I thought all was ok, ten minutes ago I jumped in and drove to the shops and the stereo starts its low power mode again, does anyone have any ideas? I've searched on here and it is pointing towards the battery or alternator, just wondered why it's fine when it's just ticking over but only happens when driving, thanks everyone

Sounds like an alternator problem, get them both checked out if left the alternator if bad can take the battery down as well.

Flack Thumbs Up

Thanks for the quick reply, Ime no mechanic but if the alternator was not charging the battery would the battery last a hour long journey in the dark with lights on etc, ime totally confused lol, went out and started car just now and it started fine, no dim lights or slow turn over, and I can't fathom out how the stereo is fine with engine running but not when driving, thanks for any help as its stopping me from pulling my hair out over this Big Cry
Will get them both Checked Thumbs Up

The alternator can 'start' to fail with low voltage but not 'no' voltage until it's too late.

im with flack on this one. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible
