Wales 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black
Money Money and more money

Well I've had my 2007 TDV8 with 80K Miles, since 22 September 2014, when I bought it, it had full Land Rover service history, makes me wonder what LR do in a service Confused

So far I've had

1 new ARC Bars
2. Upper suspension arms Right and left
3. Lower suspension arms right and left
4.PAS Pump and belts
5. Battery
6 Alternator
7. new Brembo Pads
8. New Discs
9. Full service oil & Filter/Fuel Filter/Coolant/ Air filter
10. Gear box flush and new oil
11. New wipers front and back
12. A number of smaller jobs

Had 19 inch winter wheels and Perrelli Scorpion winter tires fitted

Had it back just over 1 week from the alternator & Battery being replaced, and now going in for a new torque convertor, as I have the surging and RPM fluctuation between 30MPH & 50MPH, all together just in repairs and the tires (not wheels) I'm into about £7k, my indie has me down as a good customer Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

I wonder what else can now go wrong with this car, I don't think there is too much left to replace, the Turbos etc have been checked when the body was off and I'm told they are in good condition.

I also had a winter detail which made it look nice but 2 days later its dirty with mud as Ive had to go over a farm, using it as it should be and not as a town car.

After all said and done still my favourite car and can't think of anything else I would rather be driving as a 4x4, luxury on the highway, and comfort while pushing through wet farmland, and rutty tracks Java Black 2007 TDV8 HSE (my first RRS)

i bought it from a dealer who I was recommended to, but they tell me its wear and tear and not down to them, the only option they gave me was return the car and have a refund, but that didn't include the work Ive had done or costs to take it back to central England, plate transfer etc etc, so I'm sort of stuck loose on having the car fixed for a refund of just the car not all the associated costs, buy another and have similar problems as this had full service history, so could have the same issues with another car, or bite the bullet and cough up for repairs Mad Java Black 2007 TDV8 HSE (my first RRS)

Oh dear.....on the brink of owning my first RRS this makes depressing reading.....

Having said that, my SC Vogue is in bits and it appears "you just can't get the bits to rebuild the engine".......the black hole is opening up already!!!

I still love the car, even with all these repairs, I would buy another one, and will next year when I need a change. Very Happy Java Black 2007 TDV8 HSE (my first RRS)

It's amazing isn't it.......I've got a Landcruiser Amazon that I use for towing for my business. I've had it twelve years and it's done 250,000 miles. All it's had is tyres, brake pads and discs, 1 of the two battery's replaced and regular oil changes. Not even a turbo or an exhaust.......

But here I am after a money pit.......like a moth to the flame....... Rolling with laughter

It sounds to me that your vehicle wasn't in a roadworthy condition when you bought it from the recommended dealer. Whistle Who recommended the dealer Question His son Laughing I'm sorry but i would not accept what the dealer is telling you. But i guess it is a bit late now if you have had the work done elsewhere. I would have sent it straight back to the dealer you bought if off. Mr. Green Didn't they carry out a safety inspection prior to you buying the vehicle? That is standard practice for all dealers. Name and shame the dealer so that all our other members can avoid using them. I think you have been well and truely stuffed with your sport buying it with all those faults. Whistle
Muddywheels wouldn't have accepted a vehicle with all those faults.... Laughing Wink

England

The dealer has pulled your pants down Shocked

http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/england/cons...faulty.htm

Quote:
You discover the fault within six months

The responsibility is normally on you rather than the dealer to prove that a car is faulty in some way. However, the responsibility is on the dealer to prove that the car was of satisfactory quality when you bought it, if you discover the fault within the first six months and you are asking for:

a repair or
a replacement or
a full or partial refund where a repair or replacement isn't possible, would cause significant inconvenience to you as the buyer or would cost a disproportionate amount to the dealer.
Where the dealer is responsible for proving the car is of a satisfactory quality, they have to prove the fault wasn’t present using evidence such as an independent report into the car’s condition.

£7k in 7 weeks since buying is criminal Evil or Very Mad

I can not believe anyone would take this dealers Censored and accept it without a fight. Any reputable dealer would offer at least 3 months warranty regardless of the 6 months under law. I hope you've got £12k put aside for when the engine and turbos go next Confused

You've been sold a lemon - they have not checked it before sale or were trying to offload it and wash their hands Banging Head

If you keep it please get decent a warranty immediately Big Cry Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

£7k is a joke, how did you buy it, sold as seen, or sold as scrap Question In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

Mark, I really feel your pain mate.

Just out of interest how did you pay for the motor.

I was a cash buyer with mine which I was worried about as once you have paid thats it, so most people think but I looked into this before I parted with any cash and put 500 deposit on my credit card. That meant that by law, as long as the total sale price was less than 30k the credit card company is liable under a sale of goods act and have to argue the fact with the dealer.

I would look into this if you have part paid on a credit card

Jay

To be fair discs, pads, service, gearbox flush, wipers, winter wheels and tyres aren't really down to the supplying dealer. The other bits are a bit rough for you to swallow though.

sounds like my problems

door mechanism
compressor
air bag
crossover valve
pads
discs
tyres
wiper blades
battery
lower suspension bushes
power steering belt
all in 7 months although at least mine had warranty that fixed the first 4 that said they seem to be financial black holes!
