Rear disc jammed on.....

Hi guys/gals, firstly apologies, I'm on the scrounge.

I'm currently helping a friend change D's and P's on his 2009 range rover sport tdv6 (stormer edt). Followed Bodsys brake guide to the letter having never worked on one before (I have a SII Disco).

We have changed 3 out of 4 noooo problem, 4th, ofs rear the disc is "jammed" on have tried a series of things including the Manual realise loop under the centre console ...... it's just springing back as we try and manipulate it off.

Anyone came across this before, ive done a search and nothing came up. Big Cry
Big Cry Big Cry

Many thanks in advance, a cross Disco owner and a beleaguered RRS owner lol

Did you back off the adjuster on the handbrake shoes far as possible? As I recall it is annoyingly fiddly as you can only access it through a little hole and have to push the knurled wheel round with a small screwdriver. If you are having difficulty turning the disc you can use a big socket on the hub but with a breaker bar. Sometimes bashing the disc with a lump hammer might shake the shoes free if they stuck in the 'on position'. Good luck! 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Adjusted the wee wheel (counting the turns) 8 up, as the wheel is at the top, then went back to its original position, then went 4 or so down the way, 12 clicks in total and tried taking the disc of..... no luck, then went fully 12 up again no difference (not sure what way is to free it off its getting confusing for us lol)

This morning it was making the "screech" noise but since then it has stopped as we have been working on the car.

Thanks Paddi think we will need it...... Bloody Landrovers lol

Yes know the problem re trying to work out which way is to 'off'. The wee wheel is on the end of a sort of bolt that screws in to the little casting that is fixed to the backplate so you need to peer through the wee hole and work out where the casting is and screw the bolt in to it. Then if you can just keep puling and pushing the disk it will eventually come off. Have a few beers and try again in the morning maybe? 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

You need to back off the wheel all the way to the loose side. You know if you've gone the wrong way as you won't be able to move the hub. Bodsys Brake Bible

Gents thanks for the replies, after a rest and a few brews wound the wheel till there was no thread showing and with a bit more brute force and ignorance and some real wiggling it's popped off...... Bloody Range Rovers and EPB LOL

The only thing is, now the OFS rear is binding on, I take it now it's just a case of taking the wheel off and re-adjusting the wheel again??

Again can't thank you enough for the replies....... Paddi, Beers are chilling and will be getting consumed just shortly. Laughing

You may have to put the EPB into "Mount" mode with a diagnostic machine, if the cable has been extended too far.

If this is the case, the handbrake will effectively be applied a little, which puts the adjustment out Thumbs Up
