Newbie Sat Nav / DVD / reverse camera question.

Hi Guys,

Probally a stupid question to some of you but having gone through all the posts I'm still not sure of the answers, although I now know what a GVIF is!!

2005 RRS SE. Found the sat Nav under passenger seat.

1) if I buy a cheap upgrade 2012 disc is it just a case of putting the new disc in??

2) I notice the unit says DVD player. If I put a DVD in will it play on the centre screen? And how do I control it and will it have audio. If not, what do I need to do?

3) I have been looking at one of these....

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/371177731152?nav=SEARCH

Will this automatically start up when I go into reverse or will I need to activate it each time.

If you know the answer to one or more of these would really appreciate your advice, or any other simple solutions to the above.

Cheers

James

many sources of satnav disk if you search, but LR will still provide the genuine 2011 disk (I think they may have calld it 2011/12) but you won't get newer than that I'm afraid.

When you do source a disk, yes, just eject the old disk and put a new one in (you may need to slide the lock on the other side of the drive in order for it to eject) put new disk in, let it do its update and jobs done.

It won't play dvd's

You need the gvif, if you have that, then reverse camera will be automatically switched (as long as you are on the satnav screen)

No point using those wireless ones on RRS as you won't fit the receiver in the tailgate. You also still need to route the wire to the number plate light anyway for power so a bit pointless on a RRS. Bodsys Brake Bible
