It should come on automatically when you start the car and the outside temprature is <= 5 deg C. Sometimes it needs a reset if it fails to fire up in a few attempts.

Mine fired up this morning for the first time in months. The smell gives it away. Often it'll smoke a bit too if it hasn't been run for a while. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Guarantee it will need resetting,I recall being told if your low fuel light comes on 3 times it locks the heater out.Seems madness to me,but hey it is a range rover |

Yes, low fuel light 3 times when the temperature is also low enough to require the FBH and it locks up. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

You need a diagnostic tool to reset it. A dealer or independent can do it for a fee (no idea how much they will charge but shouldn't be a fortune). Or you can invest in a BAS product (search the forum for "BAS FBH Controller") that allows you to reset in addition to remote operation. Or spend even more to get the IIDTool which does this and a whole lot more. But first of all I'd wait to see if it really isn't working.
