2012 RRS v 2014 (L494)

Apologies if this has been discussed but I couldn't find a thread (or maybe didn't look hard enough Wink )

I know the L494 would be better, but would it be worth the extra 40% Premium?

Moving back to Aus soon. A look online and:-

-the 2012's I'd consider are going for around the $90k mark

-An L494 in the spec Id like is around the $130k mark(SDV6 HSE)

So that's very roughly 40% more.....

So I know the 2014 L494 is definitely better, but Would you say the new one commands a 40% premium ?

Thanks in advance

Not in my opinion . I think they need a year or two to sort out the teething problem which have been mentioned on here.

You probably already know this but 2012+ RRS1 HSE has a higher spec than RRS2 HSE as standard. RRS2 HSE Dynamic or RRS2 HSE with lots of extras would be a better comparison. Then you are looking at a bigger price difference. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
Gone: MY16 RRS2 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic, Carpathian Grey & Santorini Black Sliding Pano/Ebony & Ivory 2 Tone
Gone: MY13 RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE Black Edition, Orkney Grey/Ivory
Gone: MY09 RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE, Santorini Black/Almond

I didn't know about the 2012 Spec being better than the 2014 as standard, but I do now thanks Smile

I think an L494 is inevitable at some point but as some have suggested, I might get myself into a nicely specced 2012 for now and wait for the gremlins in the new model to be sorted and look into one in about 18 months or so

I bought a 2013 Black Edition just before they stopped production of the old model because I didn't want to pay a premium for lower spec on new model and then test it for LR to find all the faults Confused

They loaned me a RRS2 for a while when mine was in and although I liked it I didn't think it was worth the extra money so very happy with mine still Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Viper

In your opinion Would you say it's worth a £20k / AU$40k premium over a 2012?

I changed from MY10 to MY13 - MY10 was awful compared to MY13 - RRS2 is massive leap from MY10 but MY12-13 is a good compromise Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Well I think it's worth it but its up to the individual to make there own mind up and I can't say how it compares to a my13 but I'm sure some of the RRS2 owners have come from a my13 would be interesting to hear there opinion 2016 bmw x5 40d m-sport space grey
