Try a local joiner who has his own workshop or a window company who makes their own wooden windows. Supply them something to put it in, and ask nicely Very Happy and before you know it, you you have plenty of firewood. Thumbs Up Or try a pallet yard, they will have some old damaged pallets to give away. Wink

I already collect pallets, mainly for kindling as it is quick to Fire up and get going.
Just wanted to know if any one had any contacts for some decent volumes of quality fire wood either seasoned or not.
I quite enjoy wielding a chainsaw and an axe on a Sunday morning lol

I see you are in hull. I don't know how legal it is to do this but some parts of the coastline get lots of wood washed up. Take a trailer and grab it. You can make it a family fun activity.

England

I went and talked with a local farmer Thumbs Up .
He had loads in various fields that he'd cuts down, but was just lying as logs in covered places around his land.
Struck a price and then headed off into the fields with a chainsaw and a trailer. Managed to get about 5 cubic meters over about 3 trailer trips, think it cost me just over £100. Enough to fill up a 6'x4' shed floor to ceiling Smile ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I had thought about going to ask a farmer if he needed any tress cutting, most arround here are not the friendliest and they all carry shot guns lol.

I'll check the the website as well.

Contact your local council waste cente and they will let you take the wood from the tip.

Also on ebay a guy in hull advertises free fire wood to be collected.

Not all council waste sites will do that. Those that have power-from-waste systems will be burning it to make money... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I don't think that many people dump wood nowadays as every time I go to tip it's just full of shrubs lol.
Any way it looks like I am going to bite the bullet and buy some wood at the weekend, although that brings another dilemma!

3 builders bags of dried hard wood for £200 or 4 bags of mixed wood of varying quality for £200.
Or an Internet purchase from a big retailer wanting £250 for a 2m3 crate of stacked dried wood.

Has any body bought any wood like this? And offer advice on what they thought was better value?

it's a conundrum rich but I think I can help you.

questions for you
1) what size are the builders bags from the suppliers 1 & 2?
2) are the logs from suppliers 1 & 2 stacked or loose loaded?
3) what moisture content do the logs have from all suppliers?
4) delivery costs from all 3 suppliers?

if it's kiln-dried then moisture content is between 15-20%. seasoned is under 25%. but get those figures for me and I can easily calculate your cost per kilowatt hour/kg. Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.
DONE: Meduza front bumper, AB rear bumper, AB tailpipes, calipers repainted, rear upper tailgate upgrade, side steps, AB front grille, AB side vents, rear LED lights, clear side repeaters, integrated daytime running lights, LED headlights.

All prices inc delivery, the builders bags are loose fill.
The 3 bags for £200 supplier has stated that the logs have bee in a polley tunnel and are 15% moisture content. And the bags are the larger 900 x 900 x 900 bags.
The cheaper logs are unknown I'm afraid
The crate is kiln dried ash I belive or birch
