tdv6 crank failure causes

This has already happened to me in the past and cost around 3k to rebuild engine , question is what causes it , is it over fueling or something else as I dont want it to happen again silverRRS 2.7 TDV6 22"WHEELS FULL COLOUR CODE,STEPS,REMAP..gone

The design is a bit odd as the shells are not tabbed or indexed in any way and are just held in place by friction and compression. On occasion this allows the shells to rotate which can block the small oil ports. Once the lubrication is hampered the failure of the crank is inevitable. On the SA forums there is quite a bit of speculation that poor fuel can contribute to a failure but I am not convinced that this is the case.

Thumbs Up

Are the shells tabbed on the 3.0 TDV6?

My brother had this issue with his 2.7V6 diesel Jaguar and is looking at a 3.0V6 Jag XF, but is put off a little by his previous experience. I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.

Brill, thanks. I'll let him know.
That provides a bit of reassurance for me too. I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.
