Bodsy.....would be great to know when you would be able to do this on the new RRS.

Do you know what would be required? Now

I'm pushing to get it in the build, don't worry Wink

As for 2007, no in built auto timer option I'm afraid. Only available for 2010 on. For 2007 you need an external webasto 1533 timer or bell autos remote option. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

This is a worthwhile option, But not at manufactures Price which is in excess of £1000. I had my 10MY HSE software set up by Indie for £50. The Transmitter, Ariel and Blipper cost £180. Fitted by myself. This is real luxury on frosty mormings. Press on from inside house half an hour before going out. Car windows defrosted and car nice and warm Great Thumbs Up Thumbs Up itisme

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but what is this wondrous device you are talking about? How does it work - doesn't it flatten your battery if the engine isn't running? More to the point I'm currently looking at buying my first RRS - probably an 06 or 07 V8 Petrol model. Is this something that would be on that car (even if there is no remote). Been looking at lots of RRS adverts on Autotrader and not seen anyone mention this in the specs.

At this time of year this sounds like the holy grail of devices! Smile

on the 2010 to 2013 RRS this is a fuel burning heater built into the car (diesel only) that can be enabled to work at timed settings for cheap softwaresetting. add on a remote control capability using LR parts, ariel remote receiver and plipper for about £250 and you get remote control pre heat.

I plip mine when its parked at the house before I finish my coffee in the morning.
Go out to warm car with clear screens

Turns out to be much more useful than I'd expected.

couple of occasions this year I've come out of work to find mine is the only car in the car park with screens that arent thickly frosted and warm interior Thumbs Up
I'm half way home before the rest of the bods have finished scraping their windscreens

Thanks for that - didn't even know this sort of thing existed until now! Sadly 2010 models are out of my price range so it looks like I'm stuck with waiting for the engine to warm up and scraping the windows as per usual Big Cry

not actually the case Very Happy

if you have a pre 2010 diesel you still have a FBH but its not something you can enable with a software update.

you need to buy the belautos remote kit and fit that..

I'm confused and intrigued now... why would the diesels have this device fitted with no way to use it?

Also how can you tell which models have it... or is its standard?

It is a Fuel Burning Heater and it orginal use was to Assist with the Quick warm up of the diesel engine. When the engine was started the FBH ignighted and worked like a oil fire warming the engine water so helping to warm engine quicker. But pre 2010 models could not have the software to operate this indiependantly. But Bell Autos have come up with a device to operate the system on the 2005 to 2009 models.I think the last price i heard was about £200 for a plug in unit Well worth the money to get into a warm de iced car itisme
