So is the upshot there is no procedure for resetting a 2009 model without using a reader? What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!

Nobody seems to know how to reset the MY10 Service light When ever i ask the question ,it always comes back with how to reset the early models. I have been told that Landrover does not release any info on any of their vehicles until they are at least 4 years into production. So why have we not got anything on the MY10? itisme |

Your dealer does. Looks like you will have to put your hand in your pocket. |

Just out of interest why do people do this. Is it to hide the fact it's not been serviced or does the service light put certain features into limp mode or similar until switched off? |

I thought it was as a reminder when the next service is due. That's how I use mine. |

Oh right mate. Ive not picked mine up yet so dont know too much about them. When it was mentioned reset service light, I assumed this meant turn off a warning light on the dash so it looks like it doesnt need a service and dont actually bother sevicing it if you get what I mean |

It is a warning light that comes on when a service is due. That manufacturers have put into the system to stop owners from having a service performed by competent mechanics, who charge half the price of main agents. It is a way of getting back at legislation that was brought in to say you do not need to have a main agent service to keep your Warranty intack. As a retired Auto Mechanic, I cant see the justification of chargeing £400 plus, for an oil and filters change, and a general condition visual check. itisme |

Correct, But some Indies may have acquired the info to reset it. Or you may have the cheap service ,and then face the questions 0f the main agent as to why should they switch it off if they didn't do the service, and then charge you £50 for the honour of a few minutes work. They will keep your car in the workshop for a while to justify the price.I had a main agent charge 45 minutes labour to change a rear light unit on a freelander 2. That entailed taking out two screws and pulling unit off,and replacing it. Maybe he had his dinner break in between itisme |
