Hi Rigpig. I was impressed with your sangfroid about the recent heart attack but please take it easy old chap. Removing the scuttle is quite simple. Open the bonnet and pull off the A pillar trims. They are just held on with plastic clips, some may break but Duckwoths can supply spares if you need them. Note that the clips have rubber seals to prevent water ingress to the cabin so are important. Then prise off the rubber caps at the base of the wiper arms and undo the nuts underneath so that the arms can be removed. I used a puller but it wasn't really necessary since mine weren't very tight. Top tip here is to mark the parked position of the wiper blades on the screen with masking tape so you can put the arms back on in the correct position. With the wiper arms and A pillar trims out of the way you can carefully release the plastic clips holding the scuttle by gently pulling the scuttle upwards with your fingertips. The clips are similar to door panel trim clips in design. The wiper motor and linkage are then clearly exposed. If you want to go further and remove the whole assembly you need to unbolt the driving spindles for the wiper arms after first disconnecting the electrical connection to the motor and the whole assembly can be wiggled out for inspection. Reassembly as they say in all the best manuals is the reverse of disassembly. I hope that helps. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
