United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Cairns Blue
New owner, a bit of advice needed!

Hi All,
This week purchased a RRS SE 55 plate, 98k on clock with FSH.
I've been members of some great forums before and know the value of them and the mass of useful info and Tips.
I must admit I got it on a bit of a whim, the wife having taken me to lunch and thrown a bottle of champagne down my neck (cunning wife!)

I love it already but do notice a bit of black smoke on acceleration. Any ideas???

It's 1 previous local owner with FSH, but I can't see cam belt done. Any ideas on a rough Indy price???

Also will be driving along and parking sensor comes on. Is this an easy fix?

It is under warranty and gonna get a full report done and any issues sorted.

Re Mods,
I don't want to do too much? Privacy tint, side steps, upgrade vents and grills.
Any other subtle and not too pricey mod recommendations gratefully recieved!!!

Tganks

James

Hi James

Welcome to the clan.

From my limited knowledge, the black smoke "might" be a broken turbo pipe. Mine went about 105k, so possibly same as yours. Mine is a TDV6 & used to push out a big pile of soot when floored. Now nice & clean.

With regards the cam belts, mine cost about £500 all done from someone I know.

welcome James,

black smoke can be a few things Question does it drop any power under full load find a big hill Whistle

parking sensors are straight forward to replace, can not remember if you listen for the one that's clicking or the ones that not Rolling Eyes but that should be fixed under your warranty Question

as for mods? ? ? led interior lights are much better think it is about 18 to replace Laughing
don't leave your towbar in if not in use (if you have one)
Wiggs updated Bluetooth if you use your phone in the car if you have to use 2121 each time you get in

then just keep going Thumbs Up

belts should have been change at 7 years look at around £500.

I had the black smoke issue and it was a split in the intercooler. New intercooler and all is good. Could also be EGR valves which can be blanked on a 55 plate.
Led interior lights are a nice mod, and number plate lights and sidelights.

If you go for LED bulbs outside make sure you use Error free/ Canbus bulbs or you will be tortured with dash errors/pings.
The black smoke is probably as above, stuck EGR or balance pipe split at rear of engine is a pain to do DIY or intercooler. Which is also bit of a pain. I went for modified intercooler on Disco as was cheaper than OE easy to fit double the size and only needed one bit of plastic trim modified. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜
