It's probably for parking - it's an ultrasonic transducer which emits an inaudible bleep and times how long before any reflected signal comes back and therefore how far away that brick wall is. Sound travels at about 12 inches per millisecond, so that a 1mS delay between transmitting the pulse and sensing its reflection means it's about 6 inches away. Mark

Yes, that's a front Park Distance Control sensor
