Not worth getting a LR policy if your RRS is over 5 years old. Take out a Warranty direct policy instead.

Why? The new warranties cover up to 100k miles or 10 years old. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

remember the land rover warranty will not cover wear and tear
this is an easy excuse for them to avoid paying as really any part can in theory fail because they have "worn".

some of the external warranty companies (such as warranty direct) will cover for wear and tear giving greater piece of mind

The select policy is a terrible warranty with only £3k limit and only covers certain things.

Had it on my previous RRS and it was a complete waste of money, made three claims and all were rejected due to wear & tear.

The WD policy was the total opposite. It cost considerably less than LR policy and they approved all my claims, pretty much got my money back within 4 months. 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

After checking the LR website it seems LR extended warranty scheme has changed.

From another thread:

Quote:
Since Jan 1 2014 the Land Rover Approved Warranty can be purchased on a used LR of any age up to 100,000 miles. Under 7 years old it is for 12 months or over 7 years it is 6 months There is no mention of a Select Warranty anymore on the LR website - see below.

I had the Extra Care policy on my previous RRS but it was only 5 years olf at the time and under 60k miles.

Since your RRS is over 6 years old Secure Care is the best one they offer for your RRS.

This shows the different levels of cover:
http://m.warrantydirect.co.uk/summary_m.html

Try and get the betterment clause ( parts contribution cost) and 90 day wear and tear cover removed.

Make sure you haggle hard and never accept their first offer. 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

theyve taken the betterment clause off at an additional £75 one off fee but they wont budge on the 90 days wear and tear

I've just booked my car in for a service and they asked me about the LR extended warranty. I bought it on the basis that WD in the past screwed me over on a Mercedes gearbox fault that they wouldn't pay out on.

Anyway, I was offered £945 without assistance, paid over 10 months interest free direct debit. They never mentioned an inspection at all though? It's currently covered by the manufacturers warranty anyway, as it will be 3 years old next week, so I guess anything picked up in an inspection would be covered by the existing warranty?
