I don't know anything about mechanics, but if the car drove fine before getting the pump changed and it broke down on the way home from having that done I would have had it towed back to the garage who replaced the pump. May be coincidence that your car went tits up on the way home.....then again it could well have been due to something the mechanic did or failed to do. 2010 RRS TDV6 3.0 Autobiography - Stornoway Grey

There's no way replace ign the sus comp can be connected with an engine problem as it's an electrical component fastened to the chassis rail half way down the car.

Think it's already covered. That's like taking your car to the garage to have pads fitted then blowing up on way home and taking it back and saying you did my brakes so it's your fault my engine is foobarred. Don't you just love folk who are not knowledgeable. There was a spate of V6 failures due oil pump and casing fractures. I guess the rattle was the followers or worse the bottom end. As Mikey says, LR have been picking up the bills on full LR history cars once the nature of the failure is established. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀 TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!! Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈 Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱 Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜 |

If the user name wasn't a clue, a phrase like "I don't know anything about mechanics, but" always inspires confidence in what is to follow. Back to the OP; best to pick this up with Pete from LR, as some members have reported the bill being covered to their satisfaction. Worst that they can say is "sorry, no." |

In case you misinterpreted my post simple one, the clue is in the first six words. I wasn’t offering an opinion of what was wrong with the car. Not being a mechanic myself. I only advised the OP of what I would have done. I am sure after I had it towed back to the garage who had done the original work on the car they would have set me right regarding the engine problem. Seems a few of our newer members have had a sense of humour transplant before signing on....... I know my humour ( and you are correct, it's powered by Apples and Pairs, ask Muddy, might be an acquired taste) but if as I do, you work in the motor trade, this is the oldest and most used complaint in the book, you fixed my A and since, the N fell off, or the X blew up. The fact that they are not connected other than by a rubber mounting and chassis is missed in translation. So apologies if you are offended, I was SIMPLY trying to make light of the situation, having been on the receiving end of £16000 bill for a new engine. Luckily, in my case LR bailed me out and I hope that they do the same for this poster. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
