Not tried that but thinking about it now, if it's for the door then it wouldn't be in the rear wing as nothing moves on the wing.

possibly a cable for rear seat back release / tilt mechanism came adrift ? |

The lock mechanism could be where the rear door closes against the quarter panel and not actually in the door itself! I'm only guessing here as I've only had a sport a few months myself, and it's a wee bit late here or I'd go out and have a look myself. 2007 RRS 2.7 HSE - Java Black |

Probably needs a new actuator, if the cable end is OK |

Strange. I put it in the hole for the fuel cap and it works fine.
