Deployable side step

Looked at RRS2 in the showroom today - each time I got in the side step gave my ankle such a belt I thought it was broken - I'll have to get used to letting the chauffeur open the door for me.

That's not an option I'd choose!

While I accept that deployable side steps are a bit 'marmite' (more usually associated with cost), I'm struggling with how/why you manage to get got by them?

Is it once they are deployed and you forget they are there (would it be the same for fixed steps?) or are they physically still deploying as you try and get out and it then catches you?

The steps are a must IMHO (fixed or deployable).

I have three daughters and all of them would struggle without that initial "step up" into the vehicle.

Personally I think the deployables are worth the money.

No - walk up to the car, open the door, raise one leg to get in and the side-step smacks the ankle you're standing on.

The RRS in the showroom had the side-step very close to the floor so I'm guessing the suspension was at it's lowest level - I certainly didn't need the step to get in, indeed at that height it was pointless - although I can understand the need if suspension is at off-road height.

Hi
to add my view, looked and bought a MY15 yesterday, it comes with side steps that go in and out, good as they stop my wheelchair hitting side of car, bad as they smack angles and hinder getting out, they will be turned off.
