.... this was interesting...took it in, had it looked at, litmus test (licking of finger) was that 'this isn't battery acid, it's condensation' ! opened battery box to expose massive terminal furring.... washed down with hot water and dressed with grease. Vehicle to be booked in for warranty paint job.

This is where it got really interesting. Drove off (or went to) doors locking and unlocking so I thought my door may be ajar, then the meesage centre went haywire with every alarm, lamp and alert flashing, so I thought reboot may sort it. Restarted the ignition and car was dead (all alarms still exercisng though!) To cut longer story short, 4 ECU's 2 days and a loaner disco later got it back fixed. Apparently the terminal furring (not greased on release from production) was known about. Dealer compensated me but room for improvement - I'd be interested to know if anything similar out there...

MAW, we don't grease the battery terminals during production. If this is done, it is something the dealers do during their PDI. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

TB - thanks. Should it have been done, is it recommended, what is consequence of not greasing them up? Would the furring debris cause the corrosion to the paint? Seems too much of a coincidence does it not?

Thanks for feedback.

If you do a search of the galleries I think you will find a copy of a dealership PDI check list. I think it was Tim of Scotland who posted the checklist a few months ago.

Personally, I haven't heard anything about this furring issue before, but then again I don't get told about every issue that is claimed on warranty. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

I didn't mention that they replaced that also - who knows indeed.... I think we ought to start campaign for dedicated parking spaces at dealerships for RRS warranty returns !!
