I recently purchased warranty direct for just over £800 included in the price breakdown cover through out Europe and all repaires to be carried out by Land rover that's over £500 cheaper then the warranty being offered to me by Land rover plus they also cover for wear and tear. The proof in the pudding will be if I have to make a claim and see if they cover what they offer.

The rep called me back today, I asked about suspension and he said that I had to upgrade to another level, basically, the level that hes now quoting me on seems to cover pretty much everything inc wear and tear MOT failure ecu, multimedia and 100% on new for old, i.e, full cost of replacement parts regardless of cost.
Labour figure is £200-00 inc VAT (not sure what RR dealers charge?

The price for 3 years, which he tells me is THE best that can be done, £2300-00 plus £40-00 inspection fee prior to cover.

Sounds a bit eye watering to me and Ive asked for a call back next week, so Im hoping he will reduce it to around 2k and I will take it?

Any opinions?
Would I be better to take 2 years on a pro rata rate if its offered?

This is what they did to me, gave me a quote of £570 all in but it was only when I asked about the suspension being covered they quoted me for their extra cover policy at £970. At that point I walked away saying I would think about it, then called back a few days later and got the reduced quote.
Interestingly, they never asked for an inspection prior to the policy being taken out. Maybe as my car still had a 3 month warranty on it they did not need to, although it has covered 92000 miles
My quote is for 13 months warranty with LR dealers able to be used for repairs.

Are WD any good, only a claim will prove that but from what I have read and heard about them, it was enough for me to take their warranty out. Hopefully I won't have to use it but for me its all about piece of mind.

Seems pricey to me. Mine includes suspension at £645 which would work our £1950 for 3 years.
They maybe don't like the idea of 3 year warranties- why don't you do it a year at a time?

Maybe its related to my cars age or spec, 57 plate tdV8 with 100k miles?

Dont think its due to 3 years as it worked out cheaper that way, they wanted just shy of 900 for one year.

Yes you're probably right, Mines older than yours and is only the Tdv6.

hmmm... i was thinking that the older car would be more expensive to cover due to potential wear issues.
I doubt the V6 vs V8 would make much difference.

what sort of mileage are you on and did they limit you to a yearly mileage.
my quote was based on max 12 per year and only up until the car has 130k on, which is about where id expect to be in 3 years time.

Mine only had 60k on it when I started with them and I'm limited to 10k a year I think. To be honest I didn't have to haggle they much, once they've got you on the phone they're normally pretty quick and giving a good deal- so maybe that's the best their going to offer. Am I right in thinking the V8 has 2 turbos? That would make a difference perhaps.
There is a clause whereby you can only claim a certain percentage of the costs of the parts depending on the age of your car, 100% for cars up to 4 years old, IIRC 60% for cars over 8 years, 70% for 7 year olds etc etc, with associated mileage limits. You can still claim 100% of the labour though.

If you claim though, you have to send them an invoice of your last service so therefore it needs to have been done on time (12 monthly is you haven't done the miles), or a copy of your service book.

Mine does have two turbos, although the ironic thing is, the previous owner had them both replaced about 8k miles ago, one went and the warranty company, (a small warranty company who turned out to be pants), sent him to their approved repairer (Halfords), who drove the car and messed up the other turbo! so after loads of hassle and a long battle, he ended up tanking the car to an indie land rover repairer and having both replaced, big job and body off etc, cost him over 3.5k

Ive just driven 450 miles in mine on Saturday morning and it drove perfectly, my first long drive in this, i used to take my Volvo and I can say the extra power made it feel so comfortable to drive and it gobbled the miles up.
Averaged 25 mpg whilst fully loaded with 4 people and luggage etc, plus I had my foot well down at times, so not too bad for a big car.

Im feeling like i will keep it for the 3 years so Im keen to get a good warranty deal and go for it.

I did discuss the percentage thing re parts and the rep had included 100% cover, i.e. no sliding scale so maybe that pushed up the cost a tad?

My car (2011 RRS) is currently back with Land Rover to have a continued suspension issue looked at. The vehicle is currently covered by a Land Rover warranty which finishes next Feb. Land Rover have quoted me just under £1200 for another year. Warranty Direct have quoted £625, with knowledge of the current issues. That is for limited mileage of 12k per year and an hourly charge of £200 at any VAT registered garage for any subsequent work to be carried out.

The price from WD is keen but the proof is always in the pudding..... Leasky.

Hello Leasky, does the WD "knowledge of existing issues" mean they would be expecting to exclude repairs to this item, in the cover?

Another question, how do you tell if suspension is faulty, i.e. does it ride a bit iffy or does it break down and totally fail, with incorrect ride height etc?
Is there an error message for suspension issues, the same way there would be for an engine problem, (I know stupid questions but if I dont ask I will never know)

WD are fully aware of the current suspension issues and are happy enough to cover any future work.

I noticed the car to be sitting low on the drivers side when parked but there were no warning lights showing. I have a thread in the Technical section on the suspension issue and the Dealer here in Aberdeen... Leasky.
