Detailing Tips

Right guys, we have now got our very own Detailing section Very Happy Thanks Martin. Thumbs Up
I know this section won't be everyone's cup of tea as some of you think a 4x4 should be covered in mud and not polish Laughing (RRSTDV8) But for those of us that like a clean motor, please feel free to share your tips and products you recommend. Thumbs Up Please stick to the rules above though.

Does detailing include the interior ?

washed and polished car this afternoon using autoglym stuff.

As usual got half way through the polishing and got really bored with it Yawn but rather have a clean car than a dirty car.

Anyway , quite surprised how "bitty" the paint feels so i suppose i will have to look into giving it a clay bar , but apart from not having any idea about which to use am worried that it will be more boring than polishing Yawn Laughing

Suggestions on clay bar stuff anyone Thumbs Up

^^^^^ no longer polish as often as I used too Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter ( maybe my age ) I now use Mequiars Ultimate Detailer - spray on with a mist - then wipe off - beautiful shine & removes the stubborn grime that may be left after normal shampooing it can also be used on the glass Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

This is a brilliant clay bar and works with plain water;

anyone tried using a clay cloth rather than a bar, i have used Meguiars clay bars and was amazed at the difference it makes to the paint finish, but being so small it would be daunting if i had to do a whole vehicle. Just bought a clay mitt to give a try which i spotted by accident in Halfrauds, being so much bigger should make the job a lot quicker, also seen the cloth version on fleabay. 2010 RRS, TDV8

black perforated leather

heated everything, TV,fridge ...... now with gold calipers and mud flaps !( black mud flaps that is) !!

Claying is pretty effortless... and minimal pressure is required and only a swiping action so it doesn't take too long

but they are slippery little suckers...

Frankly feeling the end result and seeing the amount of cra..p .. sorry... contamination .....that was unseen on your

paintwork makes it all worthwhile

Never used one of these but I will be next time I clay.... may be the answer to your problems... good reviews too..

Detailing btw ... includes nearly every last inch of the car..... in detail.... Laughing 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's

I recently used the Farecia G3 range. Clay Mitt, Perm Scratch Remover then the Resin Superwax . The clay mitt is very easy to use, just spray on a bit of water/car shampoo mix then run the mitt over it. The difference on the bonnet was amazing, you can hear all of the contaminate lifting off.

Although I'm not a fan of the place, Halfrauds are doing 3 for 2 on this stuff at the moment.

well, after the "shining" reviews Laughing , looks like i'm going to Halfords this week to get a clay mit and give the whole clay thing a go Thumbs Up

Although the spray polish is quite dear, it sounds much easier than waxing Yawn so might push the boat out and get some of that too

BTW , what do you serial cleaners use on the inside, like door cards and head lining

Carefull there Mr B... Polish is very different to wax..

Polish is usually abrasive in varying degrees and needs to be applied to cars that need paint correction after claying...

Which in turn will then need a sealant or a wax after to preserve the great look of all your hard work.. 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's
