2 weeks of ownership RS4

After owning my RS4 for nearly two weeks now, here are my observations so far. Am i missing my range rover.. AM i heck..!?

Miles Covered 400 miles.
Average MPG - 17.8mpg.
Top Speed Achieved - 145mph (whilst remaining under 7k revs as manufacturers insructions).
Number of chavs trying to race me: Countless, number that have succeeded to beat the RS4 = 0 (but can't say i've raced anything substantial yet) - best one so far was a silver R32 off three sets of lights and around a national speed limit lane at night, and the RS4 mullered it.

Basically, i have never owned a car as fast as this, or that makes this kind of noise! ownership of these vehicles is an experience very different to that of the Range Rover Sport. The attention it gets is basically from every male in every age group! whereas the RRS seemed to get a lot of attention from the maturer end of the scale more then the youngsters. Everyone wants to have a passenger ride in it, as Jaymann witnessed down our local boozer when we went for lunch last week. My sister even suggested that i should charge £2 to go round the block!

0-60mph is hindered to over 5 secs, simply because right now as im used to autos and my manual changing ain't wat it should be (or wat it was) therefore when 1st runs out of puff which it does so at an alarming rate (up to 40mph) when you change, it takes too long, and as soon as u lift the clutch it breaks 60mph in 2nd, so need to practice my shifting i think!

The one thing i noticed at high speeds is, if you brake sharply, it doesn't feel as stable as it should do and there is a slight snaking sensation, but i think that its because the smoothness of the car at triple figures gives you a false sense of security and you don't realise the speed you're doing until you ask it to come back down to a sensible level.

Been followed by a dodgy looking car through bham town once, which was yesterday morning on the way to my office, i just did two red lights and left them stuck in traffic. So far no worries at home, its locked up safe and secure every night, seperate alarm on garage, every precaution taken which im adding to monthly to make our house too hard a target to make it feasible for any key thieves (thats the plan anyway).

You get a lot of respect in the car from lads and gents mostly, and they appreciate the car in the right way, with a guy stopping me for a chat down the local shops yesterday being a good example of that, and even the bouncers in town stopping me last night when they saw me get out of it, and asking me about it. But obviously as we all probably have experienced in the RRS, you get you're jealous pieces of **it too, with one slurring a racial insult at me on day 1 of ownership when i went to meet some mates. (kinda showed the level of his intelect, but really still not necessary - he was driving a pug 106 with a baked bean can as an exhaust, so says it all).

Anyway, so far loving it! Still need to get windows tinted, and my plates on its way to being registered onto the car. Think this will take more time then the RRS did to get bored of, but there are a lot more cars out there, so lets see.

Two gripes.. im a dick and managed to kerb both my rear alloys! not at the same time, but twice have had some asses pull out in front of me in service lanes by our local shops, which has led me to swerve and catch my alloys on the kerbs! can't f'ing believe it, but its done now, the alloys are too bloody easy to catch, and im not going to have them refurb'd or fixed just yet, as i think it may happen a couple more times! Bluetooth on the nav didn't work on either mine or PaulL's car on pickup, and i haven't had mine checked out yet, but its just a setup issue im sure. Everything else works as it should, superb build quality, and really loving every aspect of the actual car, no complaints yet about the bucket seats or anything, just wish my mates would stop egging me on so much. First long motorway trip tommorow, to guildford and watford, so should be good to see what its like on the motorway. Have done a short trip, and it was excellent.

Kam - without appearing rude here I think the attitude to your Audi (see I can say it) from other motorists is probably, shall we say geographical! If I drove into Brixton with a done up Golf I would get glances, jealous looks and people wanting to race me. Certain people prefer certain types of car. Your Audi wouldn't get a second glance in many places I go whereas the RRS is still getting looks etc. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

They are getting shorter and shorter isn't it!

Yeah i have had the blacking out sensation previously, but so far not in the RS4.. apparently it turns into even more of a beast after 2k miles, can't wait till she's opened up a bit. MDP we may have to schedule another mini meet sometime, we never did the new year one. What do you reckon? mid summer mini meet. Obviously i don't have a RRS to bring along this time, but hopefully you'll still let me come and play..

VA.. i know what you are saying, being a geographical thing, but i've had looks from a whole different crowd of people. Audi's if you didn't realise, are in the same league as Bmw/Mercedes nowadays, (so the pricetags lead you to believe anyway) so it does attract attention from the upper echilons of society as well as the scrubbers, which i think is what you were getting at.

I you guys get a meet up organised, I'll come along. I'd love to see Kam's new car. I used to be an Audi fanatic and did all the club events. I had a 1989 2.2 Coupe which was modified with the new style front end and a upgrade engine. It was an amazing car (for that time) and the VW Audi World magazine did an article on it with pictures of the car in front of Woburn Abbey. Matt

Having had the S4 cab prior to the RRS I can only say great things about it especially the awsome sound with the roof down. With this in mind the RS4 cabriolet will should be mind blowingly loud Bow down Thumbs Up

I have got all the brochures here at home [ well thumbed I can tell you ]

Think it looks great in the Yellow - see pic to follow
