2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged HSE Stornoway Grey

Parking brake

Sometimes when I apply the parking break I get a noise as though it's struggling to apply brake with yellow and red light flashing and parking brake problem displayed on information screen
I purchased the car about a month ago the people never used the car much only covering 16000 miles in 5 years
Is this something that can be lubricated
It's only happened about 6 times since I have had the car

They are complicated and simple at the same time. If it's reporting problems then they will need stripping and rebuilding.

Personally I don't bother with the handbrake, I just leave it in park.

Can it be done without

It can be done without the diagnostic kit, but the diagnostic tools do make it easier

The EPB does seem to be a "use it or lose it" item. I use EPB all the time and so far, touch wood, it's been fine. Indeed, it's quieter now than when I bought the vehicle. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Do I need to do the release procedure as parking brake does release
All I need to do is check and either replace or re adjust the shoes
