Was it found that he really was a scammer? Should be worried about dealing with him?

Yes: why are we not warned about it? Why hasn't he been banned?

He looks to have sold according to FFRR thread so there was no longer the need to have the thread on here

Who knows why he backed out , might have just got a better offer or sold to a mate, so I personally don't think it was a scam

The one I'm talking about was trying to buy a RRS and the thread was started by another member accusing him.

And when asked he confirmed he was accusing him of being a scammer.
