Looking for Used RRS V6 2.7 need Help

Hi All just joined here I have wanted to own a RRS for a couple of years now. I currently have a Honda CRV 2008 and need to change .

I have a caravan and wanted to pull it with the RRS. I need one with a tow pack fitted

I need lots of advise please as never owned one. I have a bujet of 15500 but all I see advertised for sale is high mileage over 110k 2006-2007. My question is I do not do a lot of miles per year would it be ok to go for an older RRS v6 HSE.

I have seen three examples locally all have poor condition front seats and body for around 14k

Thank you All in advance as I don't know were to start. Crying or Very sad

I'm pulling my second twin axle with my second RRS but only ever had the 3.0 so sorry I can't comment on the 2.7 Confused

Buying the right RRS is more important than the tow pack - Tow bar adding is no problem as receiver is fitted at factory when built so you just need the swan neck and usually for sale on here or Disco3 reasonably priced - there is also Fleabay but no guarantee where they nicked it - sorry got it. Electrics can be fitted easily especially if you buy plug in version but software update/activation usually necessary to deactivate rear pdc and gearbox/engine switching for towing Thumbs Up

High mileage on a motorway cruiser that has servicing and repairs carried out meticulously is preferable to a low mileage that has missing receipts or stamps Sad

Very expensive to repair so look for a good warranty too Bow down

Good luck with your search and ask questions - someone usually knows the answer here Cool Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Many Thanks Muddy wheels for the info was not use if electrics fitted as standard I I have seen them on one I looked at.

I have a single axle Bailey 426 so think not an issue.

I only bought one car off ebay I had problems with it nothing major but can happen. I have been looking for postings on this site. As I feel most will be good guys.

Any other tips from other members would be great. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Keeping saving and buy the tdv8 Thumbs Up

The 2.7 is ok and most suggest mapping it makes it better.

Keep you eye out in the for sale section on here too.

2.7 & Caravan

I agree with Muddy Wheels and other comments.

I tow a 2012 Twin Axle Swift Conqueror with my 2006 2.7 HSE with no problem whatsoever. Had Bailey Wyoming Twin before as well and both excellent.

Last Sept towing 190 miles up from Cornwall, well ladened had 20.5 on computer at end of tow at normal max speeds. Locally around the southern Hampshire areas I get between around 25/28mpg and have often exceeded 35 depending on some open and motorway driving. I judge this from the cars computer and I am comfortable with that as I don't need to burn rubber - only the miles in comfort.

I have given up on Main Dealers and use an Independent and so far am a happy RRS owner. However, don't overlook a Warranty. I use warranty Direct and two years ago had a claim around £1800 paid with no problem including wear and tear.

As already said before, buy the best you can and with a full service history. There are many vehicles out there to choose from,no need to rush and do look out for forum members selling their cars as well - often far better cared for!

Good luck!

Early cars have cheaper tax but my experience is they don't pull that well loaded unless chipped. I had a Bailey California at time and 2.7 did struggle hence buying a 3.6. It pulled perfectly, never struggled on steep hills or pulling away 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜
