Nearly saw a guy die today! Chap was walking on the pavement chatting away on his mobile and decided to cross the busy road without looking! Car in front of me jammed his anchors on, screech of brakes/ rubber etc and chap did an amazing and impressively huge backwards jump! Quite a close call.

Saw the same thing last weekend with a young girl. That busy on her phone that she just stepped out in front of a car How the car missed her was a miracle but no doubt the car driver would have been at fault. The young lass got a proper ear bashing from another pedestrian

It's also a sad fact that the automatic reaction is often to blame to driver _ whose probably pretty shook up anyway.

I've seen it happen when the kid who caused the accident ran off laughing while the driver who had swerved into to parked car was left to handle the situation, with, of course, no witnesses to the actual cause.

Good reason for in-car camera I guess.

seriously though the amount of pedestrians who must think they've got a force-field in operation is staggering... then you have cyclists with headphones, wearing black... at night
