Amazing new polish……...

Thought I'd give the old girl a quick scrub and polish. Seems to have taken years off her.

Sorry FK - only kidding. It was a loaner while mine was in for service.

TBH apart from the 5.0S/C engine I was glad to hand it back. FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

Oh ok Laughing

After it was unveiled I got to look at it in the flesh just a few days later and then test drove one a few months after that. It left me cold at the time but I do like it now, especially in the right colour. Not a match to the new FFRR in terms of looks but handles better.

Can't put my finger on exactly why, but I prefer the shape of the older RRS. Could be that it's just to Evoque for me!

I was expecting a Freelander but I think the dealer was trying hard to win my business as I hadn't been there before, so they lent me the Principal's SC and got a breakfast goodie bag too and a box of mints when I took it back.

The engine is just sublime but i really didn't get on with the gearbox which never wanted to go in the gear I asked when in manual mode. That was the biggest problem as i like to change gear quite a lot myself. Also it seemed much, much bigger than the Mk1 when parking and visibility was surprisingly poor. A lot of the interior trim was a bit low rent too and the plastic steering wheel paddles are simply unbelievable on a £90k car.

It has got me thinking about a SC Mk 1 though......... FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

After the supercharged launch event at Gaydon on the old model I would of loved one but couldn't live with the fuel bills or £70k purchase price back then. Absolutely loved it though and made me want a sport instead of a Disco Twisted Evil

Had the new FFRR last year for a while and found it too big for town use and the new RRS is same size so see where you're coming from. I have not driven new RRS yet but looked inside and thought it doesn't look as nice as new FFRR but then it's cheaper I guess Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Ha, ha. I think the curtains were certainly twitching when I revved the engine. It sounds gorgeous, but it's bloody loud and pops on the over-run. I was in petrol heaven. Rolling with laughter FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy
