Having had a look around my car (recently bought), i notice that the front "HST style grille" seems pretty much like a copy.
am i right in thinking that the original should have the surround coloured in the darker grey colour (to match the underside of front and rear HST bumpers), with a chrome finish on the centre mesh bit?

yes i see. on mine the grille is silver all over.
am i right in thinking that the surround should be in the darker colour grey same as under the front bumper?

Mine has darkened grey front and rear bits (under the bumper), same colour on handles and same colour on the surround of the side vents. the OE HST grille that i saw (330 quid) had same similar thing, darker grey surround with chrome coloured centre.
Im thinking of either getting one of those (original if I can but a good replica would do) or colouring the entire grille in black?

Ive now got some (sensible) Range Rover 20" alloys that are polished face with grey and tbh in my opinion they look better than the big boys that i removed.
Certainly a smoother ride which matters to me.

i know itsb been asked but anybody know where ?I can get an OE Hst front grille from.
Prepared to pay the right price for good condition used if needs be.

I have two genuine HST grilles in my garage one was only fitted to car for a few days if you are interested. Only downside is not back in UK again until end of August. If you are interested let me know. Also have rear spoiler and brake light, chrome side vents, door mouldings and lower tailgate moulding (all genuine HST) which I intend to advertise in for sale section when I'm back home.

Just had another crazy thought (not at all rare for me as Im the wrong side of 49)
I wonder if the grille i have is the real deal but some previous owner has sprayed it all in the silver colour in an attempt to tidy it up?
Is there a tell tale marking on the back of the genuine HST grille that I could look for?

Can i ask why your so hung up on it being OE? Im know Im being a bit anal, tbh my curiosity is that (if it is an original part) a previous owner has taken the trouble to spray paint the entire vent in silver, including the surround, which seems daft given that the surround would have been in the tungsten colour, it may well be that there was paint damage and he wanted to tart it up but didnt bother to keep the colours the same.

I may actually, get a tin of the colour and do a DIY job on the surround.

I will see where I can get the colour. worse case is that I balls it up and I have to get another one that will then be the right colour anyway.
