FL2 Loan Car - surprisingly good!

Well it's that time of year again and just dropped the rrsport off for its annual tlc and was given the keys to a shiny new albeit basic manual FL2 - was hoping for new Disco, rrsport or ffrr so my heart sank a little Sad

However I was surprised how quiet and smooth it is but to top it all the 47 mpg on the display has blown me away so thank you dealer - I'm thinking that kind of economy and saving between price of new rrsport and FL2 I may have to give some serious thought to my next vehicle Laughing

Just think what I could do with the money saved Mr. Green Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

I have owned 2 - a 57 and an 09 that I thought were fantastic until I got the black edition a year ago and was loaned a FL2 that sounded like a tractor and shattered my illusions but the one today is incredibly refined for a basic Embarassed Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

I'd be surprised if it was any good too lol.

The last one I had was a bag of shoite. Shocking ride compared to the Sport and the engine rattled like a bag of spanners. Couldn't wait to hand it back.

Sure it wasn't a Full Fat they gave you ? Wink FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

No it's a basic e Laughing

The one I had a year ago was like you described Brad which is why I'm so shocked at this one. I must say that the jump from MY10 to MY13 rrsport was dramatic and the FL2 is the same it appears. This bodes well for the disco sport Cool Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

I probably would want some more toys but come on - FL2 starting at £27765 compared to RRS starting at £61250 makes you think Confused

4WD - check

5 seats - check

Nice ride - check

Reduced need to tow caravan now due to storage relocation - check

Reduced cost to change bringing early retirement a step close........ Laughing

I'm waiting on the Discovery Sport and to see what that looks like

But more and more i think a BMW 5 Series/Audi A4 would tick all my boxes and get more than 24mpg a year,

(if they can tow my 1800kg caravan that is)

BMW Shocked Audi Thud

I'm sure one of us can give you a lift when it snows or is frosty Laughing

I've just priced up a top of the range Metropolis with a few things like tow bar and roof rails against the basic RRS2 HSE (without Dynamic) but same bits added and I could do a lot with £25k or more (considering discounts) in the bank Shocked Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

If I hadn't driven the RRS, I'd have considered the FL2 to be a nice drive. It's just lacking boot space and tow capacity (horse trailer is 2.5 tonnes mgw).

If the Disco Sport covers those areas then it will be on the list if/when I replace the RRS. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Agree on the boot (but I have a roof box if I need it) and the towing capacity for a 2.5T horse box Sad

Nick pulls a big caravan like mine no problem and now I have IDC I think it may be ok plus we are storing in the area we visit so not much towing now Confused

Having owned FL2's between 2007 and 2010 then driving a few loaners I couldn't see myself going back but the latest incarnation of FL2 has got me thinking - the Disco Sport may well be on my shortlist Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Had an Ewok last year and hated it - cramped and engine/road noise comes to mind plus hard seats Confused

Then there's the price Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Just taken my RRS to be serviced and was given a RR Evoque courtesy car. This is the 2014 2WD eco model, and for pottering around town etc so far it's great. Looks just like the 4WD model, except for one exhaust only. OK its a bit short on toys but it still comes well equipped and I find it quite comfortable. Quite happy with it. 2015 Range Rover Sport Autobiography Dynamic SDV6
2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Luxury- Santori Black with Autobiography Ebony/ Ivory interior- SOLD
