Run a red light, still have not paid the fine (8 weeks)

Hi - just wondering your advice on this, I run a red light (was a building works temporary one late at night) got caught red handed with the police parked up. But my fault, I never had a chance until the very last day to get down to the station, but they told me I needed a counterpart, so 3 weeks later I'm still waiting for the counterpart. I'm now off to France for a few weeks and I'm concerned they will take the prosecution action on me.

Do any of you have any experience on this? What type of punishment can I expect? A big fine? Jail?
It has put a real dampener on my holiday worrying about it. Big Cry

I had a similar thing for speeding...got a fixed penalty for speeding on the way to work ( i work on oil rigs) so i couldnt produce my counter part within the allotted time, i did phone them and they told me not to worry as they automatically give a one month extention and send a reminder after the 28 days. Gone but not forgotten, 2005 RRS SC first edition, BMW 2010 Z4,TVR Tamora, TVR Cerb, MERC SL 55 AMG, E46 M3, Z4, Jag S type R, Skyline R33 GTR 640 bhp, Evo FQ 400, L322 RR, X5, Lotus Esprit V8 twin turbo, Lotus Elise 135r, Nissan Murano, Honda S2000, 911, Boxster s...and a few more

I have no recent personal experience in these issues and I know that you won't be able to blag your way out of it buit I would have thought that to communicate the explanation in writing, using recorded delivery, will either buy you the time you need or at least strengthen your case if it goes tits up.

Shocked Tut Tut.... Embarassed
You will get a court summons for failure to produce your licence, at court just tell them the situation that caused you not to produce your licence, if they believe you, then you will get the standard fine plus points on your licence whatever that is for running a red light. You might get court costs, you might not. You could argue the fact that you thought the lights were stuck on red, and you could see it was safe to go through them as nothing was coming in the opposite direction. Wink

I know. Been driving since I was 17 and now 35 with no problems. But this new car I got... It seems to attract bad attitudes.
