LPG????

Hi all,

Thinking of getting a 4.2 SC and was hopping to convert it to LPG.
Some have it on here and all seems good, older posts say it's a disaster!!

Which is it, ok or a disaster lol

before i got my diesel sport i did look into getting the sc and lpg it but after a months off searching decided it was a bad idea, i think a better option is the 4.4 on lpg, i have had one off them with no issue s

Think the valve seats don't cope well on the sc. You can fit a lube system that helps but I think it's still a risk. My Local installer won't fit to the sc for that reason. Works great on the 4.4 and makes it cheaper to run than the diesel. Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY

Hi,

I have my heart set on the SC because I have had NA case before, M3 etc and could not live with them. I need turbos like on diesel but the RRS diesel won't have the get up and go I like.

Has no one ever had a 4.2 SC on LPG without the valves going??

Lol I had just started looking at them lol
I currently have a jaguar XF, 30S diesel, 275 BHP 600 torque and love the acceleration of it.
I wounded how a mapped TV8 would compare?

Here are some figures, please feel free to rip them apart Very Happy

4.2 SC = petrol 17 mpg ( good day )
4.2 SC = LPG 11 mpg

300 miles per month

Petrol standard

300 miles ~ 17 mpg = 17.65 gallons
17.65 gallons x 4.5 = 79.4 litres.
79.4 litres at £1.35 per litre = £107.19

LPG

300 miles ~ 11 mpg = 27.27 gallons
27.27 gallons x 4.5 = 122.71 litres
122.71 at £0.63 per litre = £77.30

Difference is £29.89 per month saving on LPG.

£2500 LPG conversion cost ~ £29.89 per month = 83.64 months to break even
That's 7 years???u

More torque and twin turbos....ask anyone that has had a bmw 535d..................not as fast 0-60...but in the gears.... Thumbs Up Its like the modern hyper cars...1.6 engines with electrical motors...who would of thought they could compare with V12s etc......

Do NOT lpg a supercharged. If fuel cost is a concern then it's not the car for you. Though it does make you smile Very Happy
