HDC Disabled, Transmission fault Special Programs disabled

Hi all

went out shooting this morning, on the way way I got the dreaded HDC Disabled, Transmission fault suspension lowered Special programs disabled, however the suspension didn't lower and the car didn't go into limp mode.

So I checked the brake lights, neither were out, and then I had the battery checked at STS and it was absolutely fine.

So I decided to change the brake lamps anyway and found water in the connector, so I dried it out and spayed in some WD40, d dried again and then disconnected the battery and Voila, one working RRS again!

just thought I would share this in case any one was having similar issue

I had the same thing happen me to me, but it was found that my rear diff motor had packed up, luckily enough I had extended warranty and my local dealer replaced it. I was told that it would have cost me about £600 if I did not have the warranty

Nick, it could be anything. You will have to have the car plugged in, to diagnose any fault codes stored.

However, the brake pedal switch is a very common failure, as is issue with the brake light bulbs.

It would be well worthwhile spending the £25 to replace all of these, just incase this is where your issue lies. There have been an alarming amount of D3's/RRS's left stranded by a faulty brake light bulb/switch Thumbs Up

If the problem is still there after replacing the bulb and/or brake switch you could try replacing the fuel filter, especially if it has not had a good or regular service history. On my TDV8 RRS it was the fuel filter that caused the cascade of warnings. Good luck, and as Mikey said, try and get your codes read too. Regards, Marty

Just to add my input, I had the same problem, and new battery didn't help. Checked bulbs and all ok. So got a new brake light switch for £5 +VAT from Island 4x4 and it solved all my problems!
